ISS were asked to upgrade British Sugars existing 11kV network. In essence, we had to remove the existing 3 panel and 5 panel 11kV switchboards and provide a single 7 panel 11kV switchboard. We also had to relocate an existing Cast Resin Transformer, to feed an ISS manufactured LV extension panel, which was installed onto the existing LV switchboard.
The new 11kV switchboard was installed and pre-commissioned prior to the planned outage, with all cables and CMS installed in readiness for the changeovers.
ISS installed a temporary HV cable to keep the site fully operational, to enable the disconnection of the existing Cast Resin Transformer, which was relocated.
ISS manufactured the LV extension panel, with ACB to feed British Sugar Packeting MCC. This was installed at the end of the existing LV switchboard.
ISS planned all of the required diversions of the HV, LV and control cabling, bringing everything back into service within a minimal outage duration.
